Baseball Game Preview: Boone Braves vs. Hagerty Huskies

The Boone Braves will take on the Hagerty Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boone will be strutting in after a victory while Hagerty will be coming in after a defeat.

Boone is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past University 13-2. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Boone got a great performance from Kurtis Harper as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Harper also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Braves are 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Micah Arroyo was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leyton Seidl, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Boone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Hagerty was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Lyman by a score of 1-0. The Huskies' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Hagerty had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from N. Adkins and M. Alfonso Adkins tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Alfonso pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Alfonso has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

Hagerty's defeat dropped their record down to 21-3-1. As for Boone, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
