Baseball Recap: Century's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Century had lost six straight, but after bumping their record up to 3-17 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Pocatello Thunder. This was a revenge game for the Diamondbacks: when they faced off against the Thunder last Friday, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Teague Wheatley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Wheatley was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Wheatley wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cutter Schley, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Pocatello, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. Thunder fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Century since Monday.

On Pocatello's side, Carson Allen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. Allen has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Coming up, Century will venture away from home to challenge Preston at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pocatello does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
