Eaglecrest is set to face off against Chaparral in a playoff match this Friday at 7:00 PM. Eaglecrest is still undefeated for the season.

Eaglecrest took its game last week with a confident 41 - 14 score. No one had a larger role in the success than junior quarterback Jalen Mergerson, who brought his A game into the contest. He picked up 93 yards on the ground. Mergerson has been a consistent playmaker for Eaglecrest as this was the 6th good game in a row from him.

As for Chaparral, it brought the heat last game after its low-scoring effort (seven points) in the match before. It put the hurt on Hinkley last week with a conclusive 49 - 0 victory. Junior running back Carnell Lewis didn't have many carries in the previous game, but he had more touches this time and made them count as he ran for 55 yards and punched in two touchdowns.

Their wins bumped Eaglecrest to 10-0 and Chaparral to 7-3. Both Eaglecrest and Chaparral are bound to feel confident after their prior matchups, but one team's ego will take a hit. We'll find out on Friday which when the teams meet up this week.
