Basketball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Washingtonville Wizards, falling 60-35. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 661st, while the Wizards are ranked 252nd).

Washingtonville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Malachi Taylor out in front who posted nine points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Taylor a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Bonacic, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 12 points.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Washingtonville, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Monticello has already played their next game, a 73-50 loss against Beacon on the 11th. As for Washingtonville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-60 win against Burke Catholic on the 11th.
