Basketball Recap: Providence Day Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

There's no place like home for Providence Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-39 win over the Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans on Tuesday. The Chargers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Providence Day was led to victory by Ginny Anne Dumont and Jaida McClure. Dumont shot 57% from the field on her way to 19 points and six assists, while McClure went 5-for-9 en route to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Dumont now owns an excellent 45.1% shooting accuracy. Carter Crayton also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Providence Day was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Providence Day's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Providence Day will take on Ravenscroft at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they will square off against Asheville School (Independent) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will be up against the Blues' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.4 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
