Basketball Recap: Airport Eagles vs. Richland Northeast Cavaliers
Airport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Richland Northeast Cavaliers. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Richland Northeast can attribute much of their success to Ethan Ard, who posted nine points along with six boards and four steals. Those six rebounds gave Ard a new career-high. Tyrin Sellers was another key player, putting up seven points.
Airport's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Richland Northeast, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.
Looking ahead, Airport will be playing in front of their home fans against Mid-Carolina at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rebels have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Richland Northeast, they have already played their next contest, a 59-52 win against Columbia on the 9th.
