Basketball Game Preview: Fort Lee Bridgemen vs. River Dell Golden Hawks

Fort Lee is 0-10 against River Dell since January of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Fort Lee Bridgemen will finish 2024 at home by hosting the River Dell Golden Hawks at 12:00 p.m. Fort Lee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.

Fort Lee took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 51-43 victory over Bergenfield. While the Bridgemen didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Guy Vickers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. His morning made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Christian Brewton, who posted ten points and eight rebounds.

Fort Lee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, River Dell came up short against Wayne Valley on Friday, falling 81-55. The Golden Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fort Lee will have to contain Aditya Pandya as he made an impact in River Dell's last game. He went 8 of 14 on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Pat Sweeny, who put up nine points.

Fort Lee's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for River Dell, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Fort Lee came up short against River Dell when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 44-38. Can Fort Lee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
