Softball Recap: Pekin Comes Up Short

Pekin lost against Metamora back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Dragons fell just short of the Redbirds by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Dragons have suffered against the Redbirds since May 6, 2021.

Brooklyn Beckham was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Pekin has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Metamora, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Pekin is set to square off against their familiar foe Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Metamora will take on rival Limestone at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
