The Orangeburg Prep Indians will square off against the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jefferson Davis Academy will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Orangeburg Prep extended their winning streak to five on Thursday. The Indians blew past Patrick Henry Academy 11-4.
Bryson Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tilden Riley, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Morrison Burroughs, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Davis Academy entered their tilt with Lake Marion on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Gators.
Like Orangeburg Prep, Jefferson Davis Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Will Stillinger. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Stillinger has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Colson Loadholt was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Landon Williams was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Orangeburg Prep pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Orangeburg Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Jefferson Davis Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts.
