Softball Recap: Holtville Vikings vs. Steele Canyon Cougars        
        
		
            
 Holtville was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight  loss. They wound up on the wrong side of a  rough 7-1 walloping at the hands of the Steele Canyon Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Holtville of the  5-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in March of 2023.
 Holtville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Brooke Strahm, who  went 2-for-4 with two  doubles.
 On Steele Canyon's side,  the team  relied heavily on  Lauren Becker, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.  Makenzie Meyer was another key contributor,  going 1-for-1 with two  RBI and a  double.
 Holtville's loss dropped their record down to 3-10-1. As for Steele Canyon, the  victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3-1.
 Holtville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central at 6:30  p.m.  on April 10th. As for Steele Canyon, they will head out on the road to  challenge  Brawley at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. Brawley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.25  runs per game on average), something Steele Canyon will no doubt try to take advantage of.
