Softball Game Preview: Westwood Panthers vs. Elkhart Elks

Westwood is 0-10 against Elkhart since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Westwood Panthers will challenge the Elkhart Elks at 6:00 p.m. Westwood has given up an average of 13.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Westwood is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They lost 18-0 to Buffalo. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Meanwhile, Elkhart entered their tilt with Teague on Friday with six consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Lions 24-11. The game was the first time the Elks have beaten the Lions on their field since March 13, 2020.

Elkhart got a massive performance out of Londyn Holland, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Holland has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Boyd, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Elkhart was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .543. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in nine consecutive games.

Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Elkhart, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 9-3.

Westwood might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Elkhart in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Westwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
