Basketball Preview: J.P. Stevens Hawks vs. Metuchen Bulldogs
J.P. Stevens has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Metuchen Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. J.P. Stevens will be strutting in after a victory while the Bulldogs will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Saturday, everything went J.P. Stevens' way against the Bears as the Hawks made off with a 57-34 win. The win was just what J.P. Stevens needed coming off of a 85-52 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Metuchen had to settle for a 44-42 defeat against the Chiefs on Saturday.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jason Woods, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Matt Smith, who scored eight points along with three steals.
J.P. Stevens' win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Metuchen, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.
Everything went J.P. Stevens' way against the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the Hawks made off with a 58-37 victory. Does J.P. Stevens have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
