Preview: Biloxi Indians vs. Ocean Springs Greyhounds
Biloxi is 1-8 against Ocean Springs since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Biloxi Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. Biloxi will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Ocean Springs is ranked fourth).
Last Friday, Biloxi earned a 24-14 win over St. Martin.
Biloxi's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was William Lai, who rushed for 113 yards on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Ocean Springs had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They breezed by Harrison Central on the road to the tune of 49-13. The result was nothing new for Ocean Springs, who have now won four contests by 25 points or more so far this season.
Will Smith and William Berglind were among the main playmakers for Ocean Springs as the former rushed for 175 yards while picking up 10.9 yards per carry and the latter threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes. Smith's longest rush was for an incredible 91 yards. Isaiah Sinclair also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Biloxi to 4-4 and Ocean Springs to 6-1.
Biloxi might still be hurting after the 48-28 loss they got from Ocean Springs in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Biloxi, Bray Hubbard (who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 215 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
