Mid-Buchanan is 1-8-1 against East Buchanan since September of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Dragons will square off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Mid-Buchanan can't be too worried about heading out to take on East Buchanan: they just beat Plattsburg at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. The Dragons walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Tigers on Thursday.
Mid-Buchanan walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 17-25, 25-21, 25-21.
Meanwhile, East Buchanan made easy work of Plattsburg last Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.
East Buchanan got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. The final score came out to 30-28, 25-21, 25-21.
East Buchanan's win came from a few key players Mid-Buchanan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaylynn Engnes, who had 21 digs and two assists. That's the most assists she has posted over her last nine contests. Maggie Whitt was another key player, getting ten digs.
Mid-Buchanan's win bumped their record up to 20-11-4. As for East Buchanan, their victory bumped their record up to 23-10-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's match: Mid-Buchanan hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.1 blocks per game. It's a different story for East Buchanan, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 blocks. Given Mid-Buchanan's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulldogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
