Basketball Recap: Van Alstyne Takes a Loss

Van Alstyne was the 55-49 winner over Ranchview when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Van Alstyne Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 50-49 to the Ranchview Wolves. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 15-9 in the first quarter.

Kishone Zachariah was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points and three steals for Ranchview. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Dehorney, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points.

Van Alstyne dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Ranchview, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Van Alstyne Panthers duke it out with the Big Sandy Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Ranchview and Paris will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Paris' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
