Softball Recap: West Springfield Drops Season-High Score on Alexandria City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Springfield). They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Alexandria City Titans on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Spartans with their most commanding win of the season.

Alexa Harvey and Kate Middendorf did most of the damage at the plate: Harvey went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Middendorf went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mia Lee, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

West Springfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

West Springfield pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Alexandria City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
