Softball Game Preview: Wooster Generals vs. Orrville Red Riders

The Wooster Generals will face off against the Orrville Red Riders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Wooster will be strutting in after a victory while Orrville will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Wooster turned things around against Ashland on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Arrows by a score of 10-5. The Generals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kennedy Russell was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emily Boyd was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Orrville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 22-0 to Triway.

Wooster's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Orrville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Wooster beat Orrville 7-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Do the Generals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Riders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
