Softball Game Preview: Academy of Our Lady Penguins vs. Mandeville Skippers

The Academy of Our Lady Penguins will challenge the Mandeville Skippers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Academy of Our Lady has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Mandeville will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Thursday, Academy of Our Lady came up short against Walker and fell 10-7.

Meanwhile, Mandeville had just enough and edged out Covington 5-4 on Thursday.

Zoe Burg tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caroline Thornhill, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Lily Towles was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Academy of Our Lady's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Mandeville, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
