Baseball Game Preview: Parkway South Patriots vs. Liberty Eagles

The Parkway South Patriots will be taking part in a tournament against the Liberty Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Liberty will be up against a hot Parkway South squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Parkway South was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Windsor on Monday. Fans of the Patriots have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Wyatt Simmons looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Jamison Lombardo was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Andy Hertlein, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Parkway South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Liberty made easy work of Fort Zumwalt North on Monday and carried off a 13-2 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Parkway South pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
