Softball Recap: Monadnock Beats Hopkinton for Their Third Straight Win

Monadnock put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Hopkinton Hawks with a sharp 14-2 victory. For the Huskies, this counts as revenge for the 9-0 win the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Ari Drouin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cainen Avery, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Shaylee Branon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Monadnock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Monadnock's record is now 3-0. As for Hopkinton, they now have a losing record of 1-2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Monadnock will take on rival Stevens at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Hopkinton is set to face off against their familiar foe Trinity at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
