Basketball Recap: Marion Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Marion came tearing into Saturday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Johnson City Eagles 78-38. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.

Travis Randle continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten boards. His afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Braeden Fleming, who posted nine points and five assists.

Marion was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Johnson City only posted seven assists.

Despite the loss, Johnson City saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jadyn Jenkins earned 14 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Odiorne, who put up seven points.

Marion is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Johnson City, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Marion wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-30 win against Blanco on the 3rd. As for Johnson City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-44 loss against Junction on the 31st.
