Basketball Game Preview: Lakeland Chiefs vs. Carbondale Area Chargers

Lakeland and Carbondale Area are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Lakeland Chiefs will host the Carbondale Area Chargers at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Lakeland will be strutting in after a win while Carbondale Area will be coming in after a loss.

Last Wednesday, Lakeland slipped by Pittston 43-42.

Lakeland found their leader in sophomore Chase Rosenkrans, who went 9 of 19 on his way to 19 points along with six steals and five boards. Rosenkrans has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of David Naniewicz, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Carbondale Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Mid Valley and fell 49-19. The Chargers were down 48-9 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Lakeland's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Carbondale Area, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Lakeland and Carbondale Area were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February, but Lakeland came up empty-handed after a 65-64 defeat.
