Baseball Recap: Keyport Takes a Loss

Keyport had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-5 to make it four. They lost 12-1 to the Henry Hudson Admirals. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 14-4 to the Admirals when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Keyport saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Pinto, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Pinto is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

As for Henry Hudson, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4. Considering they have won three matches by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Henry Hudson's side, Jack Burton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Burton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeter Woods, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Jack Dail was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

While Keyport had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
