Preview: Cristo Rey Saints vs. Faith Christian Lions
After two games on the road, Cristo Rey is heading back home. They will take on the Faith Christian Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Friday, Cristo Rey had to suffer through a rough 74-9 loss at the hands of Valley Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cristo Rey has scored all season.
Faith Christian posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. They put the hurt on Buckingham Charter with a sharp 49-29 victory. The victory was just what Faith Christian needed coming off of a 75-25 loss in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Faith Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cedric Smith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alec Oakley, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Cristo Rey bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Faith Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-10 record this season.
Cristo Rey came up short against Faith Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 42-35. Can Cristo Rey avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
