Volleyball Recap: Union County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Olivia Tinkle and Braylen Rudnick

If Union County was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Union City on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Patriots took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Speedway Sparkplugs on Saturday. The Patriots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Sparkplugs from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Union County's loss came despite strong showings from Braylen Rudnick and Olivia Tinkle. Rudnick had 11 digs and one assist, while Tinkle had 20 digs, 15 kills, three aces, and one block. Tinkle is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Allison Townsend, who had nine digs and one assist.

Sienna Hileman was nothing short of spectacular for Speedway: she had 23 digs. Those 23 digs gave Hileman a new career-high.

Union County's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Speedway, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

Union County has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Park Tudor on the 30th. As for Speedway, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Tri-West Hendricks on the 2nd.
