Basketball Preview: Natchitoches Central Chiefs vs. Airline Vikings
The Natchitoches Central Chiefs will be playing at home against the Airline Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Natchitoches Central will stroll in with a 16 game home winning streak (dating back to last season), but they should still watch out: the last time they lost at home was their January 13 matchup with Airline.
In what's become a running theme this season, Natchitoches Central gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fairview 83-54 on the road. Given Natchitoches Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Panthers are ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Airline aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Tuesday extended their overall winning streak to three. They escaped with a win against Captain Shreve by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54.
Natchitoches Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. As for Airline, their win bumped their record up to 16-10.
Natchitoches Central skirted past the Vikings 57-55 in their previous meeting back in January. Does Natchitoches Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
