Softball Game Preview: Friendship Christian Commanders vs. Donelson Christian Academy Wildcats

The Friendship Christian Commanders will face off against the Donelson Christian Academy Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Friendship Christian sitting on five straight wins and Donelson Christian Academy on 14.

Last Tuesday, Friendship Christian earned a 6-1 victory over Davidson Academy.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Donelson Christian Academy challenged Christ Presbyterian Academy on Wednesday. Donelson Christian Academy put the hurt on Christ Presbyterian Academy with a sharp 11-4 win. Considering the Wildcats have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bailey Goad was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Heather Scales was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Averie Beltran was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Donelson Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.

Friendship Christian pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Donelson Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.

Friendship Christian might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Donelson Christian Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024.
