The McMinn County Cherokees will be taking part in a tournament against the Science Hill Hilltoppers at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Science Hill took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on McMinn County, who comes in off a win.

McMinn County took care of business in their home opener last Tuesday. They snuck past Tellico Plains with a 70-65 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Cherokees as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, a victory for Science Hill just wasn't in the cards on Tuesday as the team wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They were outmatched by Gatlinburg-Pittman on the road and fell 64-26.

Despite the defeat, Science Hill had strong showings from Ashlyn Hickman, who posted five points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Kaylee Oler, who posted ten points in addition to three steals. Hickman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Science Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
