Elizabeth skates past Weequahic with ease

The Elizabeth Minutemen posted their biggest victory since January 7th on Monday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 52-25 victory over Weequahic. Given Elizabeth's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Weequahic is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elizabeth had a senior duo take command as Dynasty Chandler dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds and Alexandra Koon dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Chandler hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 13 straight games. Alani Gordon was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.

The win makes it two in a row for Elizabeth and bumps their season record up to 12-6. As for Weequahic, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elizabeth won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cranford at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Cranford will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Weequahic, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Golda Och Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 30th.
