Basketball Recap: Cumby Falls Despite Big Games from Chett Vaughan and Chayton Vaughan

If Cumby was feeling good fresh off their 103-22 takedown of Pioneer Tech & Arts Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cumby Trojans came up short against the North Hopkins Panthers on Tuesday, falling 64-39. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-16.

Chayton Vaughan and Chett Vaughan certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Chayton went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points, while Chett went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points. The matchup was Chett's 28th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunner Campbell, who posted five points and three steals.

Cumby's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-13. As for North Hopkins, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-13 record this season.

Cumby will venture away from home to challenge Yantis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Yantis has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 196 points over their last three contests. North Hopkins has already played their next matchup (against Pioneer Tech & Arts Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
