Basketball Recap: O'shay Walker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Flowing Wells over Palo Verde

Flowing Wells lost against Palo Verde back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Caballeros took a 76-58 bruising from the Titans. The loss put an end to the Caballeros' undefeated start to the season.

Flowing Wells' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was O'Shay Walker, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Walker is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Isaias Encinas, who shot 43% from the field on his way to 13 points along with eight assists and five boards.

Palo Verde's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kamaiu Ortiz, who went 5-for-8 en route to 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. What's more, Ortiz posted five assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Kameron Pippen was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Flowing Wells fell to 2-1. As for Palo Verde, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Flowing Wells will challenge Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Palo Verde, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Cholla at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
