Softball Recap: Lakeland Comes Up Short

If Lakeland was riding high fresh off their 16-6 takedown of Moscow on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks fell just short of the Lewiston Bengals by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the fifth time they've come up short against the Bengals this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-10 loss last Thursday.

Katie Dewey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Ada Blakemore was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Lakeland has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Lewiston, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-11.

Coming up, Lakeland will take on Sandpoint at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. Lewiston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
