Basketball Recap: Charlotte Country Day School's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

After flying high against Catawba Ridge last Friday, Charlotte Country Day School came back down to earth. The Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers took a hard 81-65 fall against the Weddington Warriors on Monday. The Buccaneers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss, Charlotte Country Day School saw an underclassman step up: freshman Davonta Dj Lindsey went 8 for 12 on his way to 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for Dj Lindsey. Braylon Clark was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

Kj Younger was his usual excellent self, going 12 of 18 on his way to 31 points for Weddington. The game was Younger's 16th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Zepp, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Charlotte Country Day School moved to 10-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Weddington, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Charlotte Country Day School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-58 win against Durham Academy on the 3rd. As for Weddington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-54 loss against Nation Ford on the 3rd.
