Basketball Recap: St. Marys Starts Season with Victory on the Road

St. Marys had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They managed a 65-59 win over the Doddridge County Bulldogs on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

St. Marys' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brynnley Bulluck led the charge by going 7-for-16 on her way to 22 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Bulluck's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Landrey Riggs, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 18 points and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Doddridge County lost, don't look at Kamryn Satterfield. Despite the final result, she went 10-for-18 en route to 25 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Dehaven, who posted ten points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

St. Marys wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 80-31 win against South Harrison on the 8th. As for Doddridge County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-56 loss against Petersburg on the 6th.
