Basketball Recap: Garfield Find Success

Liberty came into Friday's game looking for another win against Garfield, but Mandy Cardinal wouldn't allow it. The Garfield G-Men really took it to the Liberty Leopards for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-13 victory thanks in part to Cardinal, who went 7 of 17 on her way to 18 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Garfield's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelyn Tasker, who posted four points in addition to five assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists.

Garfield's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Liberty, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Garfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-23 victory against Badger on the 21st. As for Liberty, they will head out to square off against South Range at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
