After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Shenandoah, Eastern Hancock was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Blackford Bruins. For the Royals, this counts as revenge for the 14-1 victory the Bruins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Caleb Retherford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hayden Rouse was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Eastern Hancock's win bumped their record up to 7-14-1. As for Blackford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Eastern Hancock beat Blackford by a score of 9-4 later that day.
