Basketball Recap: Tuscola Comes Up Short

Tuscola extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took an 89-82 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Enka Jets. The Mountaineers were not able to make up for their loss to the Jets from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Tuscola lost, don't look at Gavin Chouinard. Despite the final result, he shot 44% from the field to rack up 32 points and six boards. Bryce Ferguson was another key player, going 10-for-16 en route to 24 points.

As for Enka, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 88.7 points over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Enka to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hyatt Middleton, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Middleton's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawson McClure, who shot 55% from the field on his way to 17 points and seven boards.

While Tuscola had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
