Dover-Sherborn and Medfield are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Dover-Sherborn's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Medfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Dover-Sherborn took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lowell Catholic an 8-0 shutout. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Raiders this season.
Matt Bowen was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Will Forman was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Medfield was able to grind out a solid win over Norton on Wednesday, taking the game 5-1. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.
Luke Gobin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Danny Vazquez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jack Gage, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
The win got Medfield back to even at 1-1. As for Dover-Sherborn, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Dover-Sherborn was able to grind out a solid win over Medfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 9-5. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
