Recap: Vardaman Rams vs. Bruce Trojans
The Vardaman Rams pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a rough 80-59 defeat at the hands of Bruce. Vardaman was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bruce apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
It was another big night for Ashton Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 10 rebounds for Bruce. That makes it two consecutive games in which Pierce has scored at least 25% of Bruce's points. Dannon Campbell was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 8 assists and 3 steals.
Vardaman still hasn't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Bruce, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Vardaman will be playing at home against Eupora at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bruce, they will head out on the road to face off against Calhoun City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Calhoun City is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
