JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - the Rams scored 24 points in the second quarter to secure a big 44-0 victory over Penn Cambria (Cresson, Pa.) on Saturday.
Richland scored on an
Elijah Metzgar touchdown run, a touchdown run by
Nick Naglic and a touchdown pass by
Matt Shaffer to Naglic in the quarter.
After taking the lead on an Metzgar touchdown run in the second quarter, RHS led 24-0 at the half.
The Johnstown school expanded its lead to 37 points entering the fourth quarter. The Rams scored two times in the third, including once on a Shaffer touchdown pass to
Hunter Bergman.
With the win Richland extended its winning streak to eight games. Richland defeated Westmont Hilltop 63-14 last week.
Shaffer played well for RHS in the victory. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
The Johnstown school went into the matchup giving up only 12.9 points per game. Penn Cambria's zero points were well below their season average of 7.7 per game.
In a Laurel Highlands game next week Richland (8-0) takes on Central Cambria, and Penn Cambria (1-7) will go up against Westmont Hilltop also in a Laurel Highlands game.
