Heading into the final three weeks of the high school football season, three regions have new No. 1 teams in this week's MaxPreps regional football computer rankings.
St. Ignatius takes over the No. 1 spot in the midwest while Chandler is the new No. 1 team in the southwest. Central Catholic takes over the top spot in the northeast.
The south and west regions remained unchanged with IMG Academy and Mater Dei holding those top sports respectively.
The regional rankings are based on the MaxPreps National Football Computer Rankings, presented by the Army National Guard. For the purposes of these rankings, the country is broken down into five regions:
West: California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Hawaii, Alaska and Montana.
Southwest: Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma,and Texas.
Midwest: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
South: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Northeast: Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Delaware and Vermont.
