Basketball Recap: Alaina Sweatt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northside over John Carroll Catholic

Northside has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 48-35 to the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rams came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 261st).

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alaina Sweatt, who posted four points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Jones, who earned nine points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Northside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 21 consecutive contests.
