Garfield let Roosevelt stack four runs on them in the third inning on Thursday but luckily Garfield prevailed anyway. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Roughriders 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Roughriders: they've now won four in a row.

Sammy Breckenridge spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Washington, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Joie Cunningham was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

The victory got Garfield back to even at 5-5. As for Roosevelt, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Garfield will head out to challenge Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Roosevelt, they will head out on the road to face off against Inglemoor at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
