Baseball Recap: Reading Takes a Loss

Reading couldn't beat Western Hills on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Blue Devils fell 11-7 to the Mustangs. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Jackson Viessman and Lincoln Lattire did some serious damage despite the final result: Viessman went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Lattire went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Lattire is becoming a predictor of Reading's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of JT Disbennett, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Reading has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Western Hills, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Coincidentally, Reading and Western Hills will both be playing Seven Hills the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will head out to face the Stingers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Blue Devils will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
