Baseball Game Preview: Badin Rams vs. Elder Panthers

The Badin Rams will head out to challenge the Elder Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Badin sitting on 14 straight wins and Elder on four.

Badin is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Ohio's top teams: Archbishop Moeller, who was ranked sixth at the time (Badin was ranked second). The Rams came out on top against the Fighting Crusaders by a score of 7-2 on Monday.

Caleb Driessen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Derek Ogden was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Cooper Clay was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Elder gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Ross 6-5.

The team relied heavily on Mason Chumbley, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Badin's record now sits at 18-3. As for Elder, their record is now 15-10.

Badin was able to grind out a solid victory over Elder in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
