Softball Recap: Montverde Academy's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

With a playoff win on the line, Montverde Academy rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against The First Academy Royals as they made off with a 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Luna Taboas was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Susaia, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Montverde Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The First Academy only posted an OBP of .211.

The victory (which was Montverde Academy's eighth in a row) raised their record to 24-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for The First Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Montverde Academy will take on Cornerstone Charter Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ducks have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. The First Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
