Basketball Recap: San Lorenzo Valley Takes a Loss

San Lorenzo Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against the Soquel Knights, falling 78-55. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1129th, while the Knights are ranked 430th).

Nico Ramirez was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 29 points along with six rebounds and four steals for Soquel. Those 29 points gave Ramirez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Petersen, who went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points.

San Lorenzo Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Soquel, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-7.

San Lorenzo Valley will be playing at home against Aptos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Soquel, they will challenge Santa Cruz at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Soquel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
