Zereian Quarles Turns in Season-Best Effort

Pebble Hills was led to victory by Zereian Quarles, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Quarles rushed for 274 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 63 yards.

Unfortunately for Coronado, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Quarles. When Quarles last faced the Thunderbirds back in September of 2023, he rushed for 174 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

Steven Galindo Has Career Rushing Day

Steven Galindo produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Eastlake to the win on Thursday. Galindo rushed for 241 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 30 receiving yards, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He has become a key player for Eastlake: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

Galindo is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Socorro on Thursday. Galindo rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also picked up 53 receiving yards the last time he and the Bulldogs duked it out back in September of 2023.

A Season-Best Effort from Damian Briano Leads Montwood over Franklin

Damian Briano produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Montwood to the win on Friday. Briano threw for 345 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns.

Briano and Montwood will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on October 17th. The game will pit Briano up against the Thunderbirds' star quarterback Ben Wilson. With so much talent on the field, fans are surely in for an exciting game. The only thing left to see is who brings home the W.

Ernie Powers Dazzles in Franklin Defeat

Ernie Powers continued his hot streak on Friday by dropping his third-straight game (dating back to last season) with at least 138 rushing yards. He rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.

On the season, Powers has run in 11 touchdowns while averaging 160.7 rushing yards per game.

Dorian Jaramillo Makes It Two for Pebble Hills

Another Pebble Hills player making an appearance on this list is Dorian Jaramillo. He forced a fumble and made 14 total tackles.

Unfortunately for Coronado, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Jaramillo. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Jaramillo saw the Thunderbirds), he picked up a sack, forced a fumble, and made nine total tackles.
