Football Recap: Rock Island Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Rock Island had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it six. They took a blow against the Sterling Golden Warriors, falling 42-14. While losing is never fun, the Rocks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Golden Warriors are ranked 158th).

As for Sterling, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32 points.

Leading Sterling to victory were Brady Berlin and Wyatt Cassens. Berlin threw for 129 yards and two touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, while Cassens gained 117 total yards. Berlin also put up a rushing touchdown, which was his first of the season.

Rock Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sterling, they will challenge Coal City at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Coalers' defense has only allowed 12.9 points per game this season, so the Golden Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them.
