Basketball Recap: Sol'jier Allen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chillicothe over Maryville

After flying high against Cameron last Tuesday, Chillicothe came back down to earth. The Chillicothe Hornets fell to the Maryville Spoofhounds 57-51. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 56-32 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Chillicothe's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sol'Jier Allen, who posted 19 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenyen Gannan, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 14 points.

Even though they lost, Chillicothe was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their sixth loss (out of 19 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Chillicothe's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Maryville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Chillicothe nor Maryville have any future games scheduled.
